For applications requiring two constant speeds, e.g. for starting and then for stationary operation, a double-speed motor is the most suitable solution.

Advice on pole-changing electric motors

Do you have any questions about our models? Is the right motor not available in the desired size or version? Are you looking for motors with more than two speeds (e.g. 3-speed pole-changing motors) or is a motor with a built-in frequency inverter more suitable? Give us a call or send us an e-mail. Our contacts will be happy to take care of your request and provide you with professional advice.
These motors do not currently fall under the Low Voltage Directive, even if only one of the two speeds is used permanently.
There are different versions of pole-changing motors depending on the pole-pair combination. A Dahlander circuit is used with a speed ratio of 1:2, as is the case with 2/4 pole motors or 4/8 pole motors. Motors with this type of circuit (Dahlander motors) have better utilization, as the entire winding is used at both speeds. In contrast, the 1:2 ratio is not maintained with a separate winding. These are, for example, 4/6 pole motors.
Motors with constant torque are wired in Δ/YY. Constant torque means that the torque required to operate a system always remains constant regardless of the speed. The conveyor belt is the best example of this. Motors with square counter-torque, on the other hand, are connected in Y/YY. With square counter-torque, however, the torque increases with the square of the speed.
